Accessing an abortion

Abortion procedures are legal in Quebec and can be accessed for free at several…

    • private clinics (free with RAMQ)
  • community health centres
  • integrated health and social services centres (CISSS) and integrated university health and social services centres (CIUSSS)

While there is no legal time limit on access, abortion is only available up until 23 weeks in Montreal and individual access points vary in terms of maximum dates for procedures. After 23 weeks, you may be referred to a provider in the United States where later abortions are performed. A full list of access points in Montreal and their maximum dates can be found here.

If you need help choosing a service provider, contact us and we can help you find the right fit.

In addition to directly contacting providers on our list of access points, you can contact the Montreal abortion appointment centre at 514 380-8299. They guarantee to find you an appointment within two weeks.

If you’re 14 years and older you don’t need parental or guardian consent to access abortion procedures. If you are under 18 years old and spend more than 12 hours in a clinic or hospital your parent or legal guardian will need to be notified, however abortion procedures are typically no longer than 3 hours including wait times and recovery.

If you are under 14 years old you will require parental or legal guardian consent to access abortion services, as well as any other medical procedures.
